Your certificates
When you finish your course at Iberia Language Academy you can obtain two different certificates, and they attest different things. Here we explain what each one says, what you need to obtain it, and when you will have it.
Certificate of attendance
This records the class hours you have attended. It doesn't certify your learning or your level: it states how many hours you completed, of which module, and on what dates.
You download it yourself from the ILA portal whenever you need it, during the course or after finishing, regardless of your attendance percentage and your result.

This certifies that you have met the module's objectives and reached the corresponding level. Because the certificate formally confirms your achievement, the requirements for receiving it are strict.
Completing at least 80 % of the module hours
Completing the full final assessment
Scoring 60 points or more out of 100
If you meet all three, it is issued within nine working days of your final assessment.

The final assessment covers five areas: listening, reading, writing, speaking and interaction, and grammar and vocabulary. Together they total 100 points and compensate for one another, so a weaker result in one area can be balanced by the others.
Your work throughout the module adds up to 10 further points when the assessment falls between 50 and 59, so that you can reach 60.
If you join a module that has already started
Our modules have fixed dates and you can start any Monday of the year. That means you sometimes join a module already under way.
If the hours left to you do not reach 80 % of that module, you receive the attendance certificate for it, showing the hours you completed. From the next module onward, which you take in full, you are on the normal path to the achievement certificate.
Ask admissions where you are joining and which certificate applies, before you enrol.
Conversation, DELE preparation and private classes
These courses provide an attendance certificate only. It shows the hours completed, but not achievement of a particular level. The achievement certificate is reserved for courses where students complete a curriculum module and pass its final assessment.
Conversation and private classes are not organised into modules with a final assessment. For DELE preparation, the relevant assessment is the official DELE exam, administered by the Instituto Cervantes rather than the school.
If you move from a group course to private classes after the module has begun, you receive the attendance certificate for that module.
What the certificate proves, and what it doesn't
Our certificates are issued by Iberia Language Academy and they are not official qualifications. They are not a DELE, a SIELE or any other external certification, our courses are not part of Spain's state education system, and they do not carry university credits.
What they record is the module you completed, the hours you attended and the dates, referenced to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The achievement certificate also shows your marks in each of the five areas. This is the school's formal record of your study, and it is what you use to show what you have studied and at what level.
If you need an official qualification, the route is the DELE, awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of Spain’s Ministry of Education. It is recognised internationally and does not expire. We prepare you for it here, but the exam itself is sat at an official examination centre, not at the school.
We keep your certificates on file for ten years and you can download them again from the ILA portal whenever you need them, without asking. A printed and stamped copy costs 15 €.
